Methodist Chapel

Chapel

Methodism started in Nettleton in 1796 with the first meetings being held in the home of Henry Spring, Robert Appleby and Zachariah Featherstone. The latter gave land on which a small chapel was built in 1800. It was enlarged in 1847 and again in 1912. The primitive Methodist Chapel was built on leased land in 1858. When the lease expired in 1957, the two chapels joined forces to worship at the present site which was opened after renovation in 1957. In 2004, further renovations were carried out to the walls, roof and central heating system. The chapel schoolroom is used extensively for meetings of the Nettleton Gardening Club, WEA and the Parish Council.
