Get your next library item via text!

Mobile phone text messaging has been launched by Lincolnshire's library service to let borrowers know their items are ready for collection.
The free service means when you reserve a library book, talking book, CD, DVD or video you can now choose to be notified by text message, free of charge.

All you need to do is have your mobile telephone number added to your borrower record.
Any library user wishing to receive text messages should contact their library to have their details added to the borrower records.
To find your nearest library phone 01522 552866 or visit http://www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/findyourlibrary
You can also arrange to get text messages by e-mailing Library.Support@lincolnshire.gov.uk  or through the online catalogue at http://www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/librarycatalogue (you will need your library ticket number and PIN).

The digital p-age
Lincolnshire libraries are offering the next generation in reading material with the arrival of e-Books.
More than 1,000 e-Books are now available online, with new titles being
added each month. This means readers can now download recent
bestsellers such as Stephen Fry's 'The Fry Chronicles' alongside classic texts like Emily Bronte's WutheringHeights to their computer or e-Book reader free of charge. Users can borrow up to three e-Books at a time, with loans lasting 21 days.
Councillor Eddy Poll, Executive Member for Cultural Services, said:
"We try to make sure our libraries have something for everyone. E-Books are becoming more and more popular. We wanted to make sure our library users had access to them, alongside the 1.1m books, CDs and DVDs we already stock. The addition of e-Books means you can now browse and borrow titles from the comfort of your own home, 24 hours a day. And like a regular library book, they're free to borrow."
Individual e-Books can only be borrowed by one person at a time, but reservations can be made for when titles next become available.
This improvement complements the recent arrival of e-Audio books.
There are already more 600 of these talking books online, including blockbusters like such as Dan Brown's 'The Lost Symbol' and Steig Larsson's 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'. These titles offer unlimited simultaneous access for all borrowers, meaning each library user can download the latest bestsellers at the same time, making waiting lists a thing of the past.
Borrowers can access both services with their library card and PIN via the Viewpoint Web catalogue at http://virtuallibrary.lincolnshire.gov.uk.
